Directing | The Lucky Country

The Lucky Country evolved from a three year collaboration with composer/ lyricist, Vidya Makan. Via its charm and deceptive simplicity, this concept musical captures, celebrates and subverts a host of familiar tropes drawn from our national narratives, while simultaneously charting the fault-line beneath – the erasure inherent in the very idea of Australia itself. It is a multi-layered work made possible by multiple layers of collaboration, and Vidya and I are especially grateful to our First Nations colleagues for their honesty, guidance and trust.
